Review: Atheism Remix

I'll try to limit myself in reviewing the 26 books I plan to read in 2009 by participating in Abraham Piper's project, 22 Words: Experiments in Getting to the Point.

Albert Mohler, Atheism Remix: A Christian Confronts the New Atheists. (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Books 2008).

"Mohler is no Plantinga or McGrath. However, Atheism Remix is a good review of their latest responses to a more vehement Atheism."

The book is mostly just a review of random responses from four contemporary theologians to Richard Dawkins & Daniel Dennett. In my view, Mohler misses the finer points of the calculated contemporary responses to these "new" critics of theism (In all fairness, he may be dead on about one of these responses). His only original contribution to the discussion is lacking in honesty, and, on a popular level, serves to widen the rift between secular America and Evangelical Christians. Still, this book will serve as a good primer to the "dialogue" between the "new atheists" and brilliant theologians, such as Alvin Plantinga and Allister McGrath.
